Sensei Dominic began his Karate journey in Zimbabwe (Rhodesia) in 1974. He trained under Shihan Des Botes (5th Dan). Sensei Dominic was awarded Shodan (black belt) in 1977. Dominic represented his country in Johannesburg competition in Kumite (free style fighting)
Sensei Dominic immigrated to the UK in 1978 and had a temporary hiatus from training whilst setting up his new life in the UK. Dominic returned to Shukokai Karate training in around 2000 training under Robin Horsefield (5th Dan) in the Putney Dojo. Dominic has also trained in judo and Jujitsu (Yoshin Ryu) under British martial arts federation.
Sensei Dominic later joined the Metropolitan Police force and quickly progressed to a Detective Constable for New Scotland Yard in the busy Southwark borough CID.
Sensei Dominic retired in 2015 from the police service, taking up his passion sport, karate, joining the Reigate dojo under Sensei Esme and teaches Kimura Shukokai Karate, teaching at schools, and the local Reigate Dojo.
